Emmanuel Dennis’ time at Blackburn Rovers has come to an underwhelming end, with the forward set to return to Nottingham Forest following an injury-plagued loan spell.
Dennis had joined Rovers in January in search of playing time, but his stint at Ewood Park didn’t go as planned.

Blackburn Rovers confirmed on Monday that the Nigerian forward will not be retained beyond his loan, listing him among five departing loanees.

Others returning to their parent clubs include Owen Beck, Amario Cozier-Duberry, Dion Sanderson, and Cauley Woodrow.

The 27 year-old Nigeria International had hoped to reignite his career after being frozen out of Nottingham Forest’s plans under Nuno Espírito Santo.

Unfortunately, his efforts to find a rhythm at Blackburn were derailed by injuries.

He managed only 222 minutes of action across seven appearances in all competitions, starting just once. He also missed six straight Championship fixtures due to fitness issues.

Now entering the final year of his contract at Nottingham Forest, Dennis faces an uncertain future at the City Ground.

With Nuno still in charge and his role at the club unclear, the forward is expected to be the subject of transfer speculation this summer as he looks for a more stable situation where he can play regularly.

Dennis has seen his career lose momentum in recent seasons. Injuries and inconsistency have hampered his progress.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers have opted to retain United States U20 international Leo Duru.

The right-back, who is of Nigerian descent, caught the eye during a productive loan spell at League Two side Barrow, where he made eight appearances and scored his first senior goal.

Dennis, meanwhile, will be hoping for a fresh start away from Forest and injury setbacks.
