Chelsea are considering submitting a bid this summer to sign an attacker who idolised Blues legend Eden Hazard.
The current Chelsea squad includes some outstanding young players with huge futures ahead of them, but they still have a gap to close to the best teams in Europe.
Ahead of the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday, the Blues are still in a fight to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
It’s been reported that Chelsea are planning four priority signings this summer to improve their squad for next season. Hopefully, they can attract some of the best players around with the offer of Champions League football.
Chelsea in discussions with Real Madrid star Rodrygo, summer bid considered
According to GOAL, Chelsea are closely monitoring the current situation of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo at the Bernabeu.
Apparently, the Blues are considering a bid to sign the 24-year-old attacker once the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.
The report says that Chelsea haven’t started talks yet with Madrid about the Brazil international. However, they are in ongoing discussions with the player’s camp.
In addition, Arsenal and Manchester United are showing interest in the La Liga star.
It’s been reported that Rodrygo is considering leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season amid interest from both Chelsea and Manchester City. Even though he’s still under contract in the Spanish capital until 2028, he could look for a fresh move in his career after six years in Madrid colours.
The Brazilian speedster, who can play anywhere across the forward line, has been an important player for a Madrid side stacked with so many high-profile names.

Chelsea made contact about signing Rodrygo last summer, and now it appears like he’s back on their radar again.
Rodrygo idolised Chelsea legend Eden Hazard
Chelsea great Eden Hazard, who retired from football in 2023, definitely helped to inspire so many players. It’s quite common to hear current stars admit they used to look up to the 34-year-old Belgian winger.
Back in 2019, Rodrygo shared that he idolised Hazard as a youngster.
When asked for his biggest football idols, Rodrygo told Marca: “Hazard! He’s a player that I’ve always followed. I had a photo of him as my phone wallpaper.”

Real Madrid | 76 | 7 | 12 | 6 |
It must have been an unreal feeling for Rodrygo to then share a dressing room with Hazard as Madrid teammates, even though the latter struggled with injuries and moved towards the end of his career.
In fairness, Rodrygo does channel a bit of Hazard’s game when he’s playing on the wings. If he did end up following in his idol’s footsteps of playing at Stamford Bridge, we suspect the Chelsea fanbase would love him because of his incredible individual skill when it comes to dribbling.
