Chelsea are already ‘very scared’ about ‘really special’ player, he’s yet to even play a game for them

Chelsea will be boasting a number of new players in their first team squad by the time the 2025/26 Premier League season gets underway.

The Blues were hoping to have a host of new signings available for selection for the upcoming Club World Cup in the United States.

They will have been hoping to have added to the inclusion of Liam Delap to their squad for the competition, however there will be a number of other new faces on display starting from next week.

Dario Essugo and Mamadou Sarr will be present with the first team squad, while there was also a place for young goalkeeper Mike Penders in favour of Djordje Petrovic.

Chelsea ‘very scared’ about Mike Penders already

The Belgian is yet to play for the Blues, however there is plenty of excitement over Penders’ future at Stamford Bridge.

Even though there is high expectation over his abilities, Matt Law has stated that Chelsea are already worried about sending him on loan too often and seeing him not able to form a relationship with the club for when he is a starter.

He said to London is Blue: “They [Chelsea] are very scared on Penders, of doing anything that requires him to go out on lOAN for 3 years on the trot, because I think they’re mindful of what happened with Courtois and Chelsea, where he came back to Chelsea and actually felt no attachment to Chelsea.”

Penders set to leave this summer on loan

Despite Chelsea’s worries about the goalkeeper, he is still expected to spend at least next season away from the club on loan.

Penders will depart after the Club World Cup, where he will be hoping he gets the opportunity to show Enzo Maresca what he can do with the first team.

There is already belief from Penders that he is good enough to compete for minutes at Stamford Bridge, and he will surely be fancying his chances with the current goalkeeping situation in West London.

Petrovic is set to leave, whilst there is a clear lack of confidence in Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
