Chelsea are expected to sign a new striker this summer as the Blues look to build a squad capable of competing in the Champions League next season.

Nicolas Jackson found the net in the Conference League final, but has failed to convince everyone that he is the man who can lead the line for years to come.

Even Enzo Maresca admitted Chelsea need a new striker after the game, and the Blues are in for a busy summer as they look to reach the next level of their project.

They have been linked to a number of top targets this summer, with plenty of top clubs looking for a new number nine this summer.

Chelsea enquire into top European striker

One of the names who is on their shortlist is Viktor Gyokeres, whose goalscoring capabilities need no introduction. He has scored 97 goals in all competitions across the previous two seasons.

It looks as if Chelsea are considering making an offer to sign the Sweden international. According to Record Portugal, the Blues have made an enquiry into Gyokeres in the past few hours.

Arsenal are also really keen on Gyokeres, with the two clubs sharing a number of transfer targets yet again.

Benjamin Sesko is also a player appreciated by both clubs, however it seems like Chelsea are going to head down another route when it comes to their new number nine.

Chelsea close in on Liam Delap deal

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that Liam Delap has chosen to join Chelsea, despite pitches made by a number of top Premier League clubs.

Maresca is a huge fan of Delap, and will likely have been the spearhead of Chelsea’s interest in signing the Englishman, whose relegation release clause is now live.

The manager has worked with him at Manchester City, where he also developed a close relationship with Blues star, Cole Palmer.

A top striker is exactly what the Conference League final hero needs to bolster his assist numbers, and both Delap and Gyokeres can provide this should they join.
