Even though he made some key contributions in Chelsea colours last season, Jadon Sancho will be exiting Stamford Bridge this summer.

Jadon Sancho, 25, certainly played his part in Chelsea’s successful 2024/25 campaign, winning the Conference League and finishing fourth in the Premier League.

It’s now been reported that the English winger will return to Manchester United after a season-long loan at Stamford Bridge, though.

Sancho is leaving Chelsea when his loan deal ends on 30 June because no agreement has been reached over a permanent deal. Apparently, the Blues will pay a £5m penalty fee because the original transfer included a £25m obligation to buy.

In 41 Chelsea appearances across all competitions last season, Sancho scored five goals and created 10 assists, including a wonderful strike in the Conference League final.

Chelsea fans want Tyrique George to step up to cover Jadon Sancho exit

Chelsea supporters on social media agree that Tyrique George, 19, can fill the Sancho void next season.

Here are Blues fans on X urging head coach Enzo Maresca to look towards the Blues youngster.

One fan wrote: “Tyrique George should not be thrown away. Given that Neto and Madueke can also play the LW and Quenda is coming next year.”

“Chelsea should sign a proper right-footed left winger and then trust Tyrique George as backup. Sancho is not miles ahead of George if you check it,” another posted.

One supporter commented: “Would Sancho be a solid enough squad player? Yes. Can Tyrique George fill that spot? Also yes.”

“I wouldn’t have been mad if we kept him, I’m also not mad at this. Is a good squad player, but the salary ask was too much for a squad player. Tyrique George can cover his position quite capably for less,” another said.

Finally, one fan shared: “This will be a big opportunity for Tyrique George now.”

George, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, did play 24 first-team matches last season after a permanent promotion into the senior group. He scored two goals and created five assists, too.

All eyes will be on the 19-year-old winger to see if he grows into a key individual next term.

Marc Cucurella backed Chelsea’s rising star George by insisting the English youngster has a very bright future ahead of him. With Sancho departing, perhaps it can open the door for him to increase his minutes next season.

Chelsea tipped with signing a new winger

While Chelsea fans are tipping George to replace Sancho, it’s worth highlighting that the club are strongly linked with adding a new winger to the squad.

Chelsea have a three-man shortlist for the left wing that consists of Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

If the Blues recruit another high-profile winger, George could find it tough to break into the strongest XI.

George insists he wants regular football to continue his development, so we are intrigued to see what his future looks like in Enzo Maresca’s squad.
