Chelsea are trying to take full advantage of this 10-day transfer window ahead of the Club World Cup.

Chelsea are set to announce the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and have now turned their attention to AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

It is thought that Maignan is interested in joining Chelsea this summer and could be one of three new arrivals taken to America for the Club World Cup.

As well as the Frenchman, the Blues are also trying to sign a new winger before the tournament starts.

Chelsea make £55m offer for Jamie Gittens

While Chelsea have an interest in Nico Williams, their main focus appears to be on Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.

According to CaughtOffside, the Blues have made a £55m offer for the 20-year-old as they look to strengthen out wide.

It means Gittens could now have the opportunity to return to one of the clubs he played for as a child. Gittens was once part of Chelsea’s academy, while the attacker has also spent time at Manchester City and Reading.

At City, Gittens and Delap actually played alongside each other at U18 level and once helped the Citizens to beat Liverpool 5-2.

It is a partnership that Chelsea supporters may get to see at Stamford Bridge next season. One thing that they will not be seeing, however, is Jadon Sancho in a blue shirt.

Jamie Gittens could replace Jadon Sancho

Sancho confirmed on Tuesday that he would be returning to Manchester United, who did give Chelsea the option to sign the 25-year-old permanently.

However, the Blues have opted against doing that and are sending Sancho back to Old Trafford. It means that Gittens could be coming in to replace the man who scored Chelsea’s third goal in the Conference League final.

Even before a decision on Sancho’s future was made, it was claimed that Chelsea had made Gittens a “top target”. With the England international leaving, signing Gittens is likely to have become more of an urgent matter.
