Chelsea could look to repeat the trick they pulled with Jadon Sancho last year when it comes to a current transfer target.

The Blues signed Jadon Sancho, 25, from Manchester United last summer on loan with an obligation to buy. However, Chelsea paid a £5m fee not to buy Sancho on a permanent basis, so he’s returned to Old Trafford this summer.

The Englishman contributed five goals and 10 assists in 41 Blues appearances across all competitions, including a goal in the Conference League final during the win against Real Betis. It wasn’t enough to convince the club to keep him at Stamford Bridge, though.

Chelsea internally discussing signing Alejandro Garnacho on loan

Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho, 20, has been linked with a potential move to Chelsea this summer. There’s been an interesting development regarding the Blues’ interest, too.

Journalist Simon Phillips claims via Substack that Chelsea have had tentative interest in signing the Man Utd attacker.

Apparently, Enzo Maresca’s side have now held internal talks about the idea of signing Garnacho on a loan-to-buy deal, like how they did with Sancho a year ago. It’s unclear on whether it would be a permanent buy with an option to send back, or a straight loan with an option/obligation.

Phillips reiterates that this is something spoken about inside Chelsea’s camp should they decide to ramp up interest in the Man Utd youngster.

Garnacho is on Chelsea’s three-man shortlist for the left wing, along with Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. It’s quite obvious that the Blues squad is crying out for another left-winger after Sancho’s departure.
