As all attention for Chelsea is firmly on their final league game of the season against Nottingham Forest, there will not be as much focus right now on what areas of the side they need to strengthen going into the next campaign.
Despite that, it has become clear over the 24/25 season that there are a number of positions in the side that need upgrading if they are to make their way back to where they want to be at the top of the table.
It has already been claimed that Chelsea will go big in the summer window, and they already have some serious quality in the form of Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo and Marc Cucurella.
If there is one position where Enzo Maresca has been let down more than most this season, it is the goalkeeper role. The Blues’ shot stoppers have made more errors leading to goals than any other club’s.
Robert Sanchez has improved greatly as crunch time has arrived in the season, however it has been clear that the best option the Blues had available to them has spent this season on loan.
Djordje Petrovic hints he doesn’t want Chelsea return
Djordje Petrovic has enjoyed a stellar campaign on loan at Strasbourg, being recognised for his efforts with their Player of the Season award.
It seems he has built quite the affection for the Ligue 1 side in the process. In a video posted on the club’s official YouTube channel, the Serbian admitted he wanted to continue at Strasbourg.
He said: “I’m not happy because it’s the end of the season and I like it here, I would like to continue for a few more weeks but… and voila, I will miss these guys.”
Top clubs want Petrovic
With there being uncertainty over who will start next season between the sticks at Chelsea, a number of big clubs are looking to capitalise on the situation.
Leeds United have been linked with Petrovic after recently securing their promotion back to the Premier League, and the poor campaign of former Chelsea target, Illan Meslier
It has also been claimed that Bayer Leverkusen are keen on Petrovic. They will be keen to make intelligent additions to their side after relinquishing the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich this season.
