Chelsea have found themselves just 90 minutes away from securing Champions League football for next season via a top five finish in the Premier League.
The Blues need to beat Nottingham Forest in the final game of the season, a side who still themselves have hopes of featuring alongside Europe’s elite in the next campaign.
Chelsea put themselves in this position with a huge 1-0 win over Manchester United, as Marc Cucurella’s career turnaround continued with another big goal for the Blues.
Perhaps their biggest threat now to a place in the top five is Aston Villa, who will face United on the final day of the season just four days after the Red Devils’ Europa League final.
The Blues and Villa won a game each against each other this season, however the circumstances which surrounded their defeat at Villa Park could end up to be costly.

Their opponents found the net in the final minute, with a Marco Asensio winner squeezing past Filip Jorgensen, who was starting a rare Premier League game instead of Robert Sanchez.
Chelsea fans were frustrated at Jorgensen at the time, but now the moment looks like it could come back around and haunt them.
A point in that game would have seen Chelsea be on 67 at this stage, with Villa losing two and moving down to 64. Given the Blues’ far superior goal difference, it would have been near-enough impossible for Unai Emery’s side to overtake them on the final day of the season.
According to Fotmob, this moment was Jorgensen’s only error leading to a goal this season, although the majority of his minutes have come in the Conference League.

Filip Jorgensen’s uncertain Chelsea future
Given the fact that he has not been able to displace Sanchez regularly this season, it looks uncertain what the future holds for Jorgensen at Stamford Bridge.
Enzo Maresca wants a new goalkeeper for next season, despite the fact that he has publicly backed his shot stoppers in tough moments this season.
Djordje Petrovic is another option for the upcoming campaign after his superb campaign at BlueCo club Strasbourg in France.
However, Petrovic doesn’t seem too keen on returning to Chelsea, with him clearly finding a home at the Ligue 1 side this season.
