Chelsea could be about to upset a lot of supporters with a transfer decision that they are set to make this summer.
Exits at Stamford Bridge are likely as Chelsea look to give their squad a bit of a revamp ahead of the 2025/26 season.
If the Blues can find buyers, the likes of Joao Felix and Raheem Sterling are likely to be sold. Felix has been linked to Flamengo, though the Brazilian club may not be able to afford him.
Felix and Sterling are not the only ones on the chopping block, however. Chelsea could also sell one of their top performers against Liverpool.
Chelsea ready to sell Trevoh Chalobah
Chelsea put in a top performance versus Liverpool last weekend, with Trevoh Chalobah putting in a solid display at the back.
For journalist Matt Law, Chalobah has arguably been Chelsea’s best player in the second half of the season.
However, according to Law, the central defender could still be sold this summer. Discussing his future on the London Is Blue podcast, he said: “I suspect that they will try and sell him because I think that’s what the whole bringing him back was about. I know that they are obviously interested in bringing in one defender.
“I don’t think it will be two defenders, so I think it will be one defender rather than two unless there are a lot more sales than planned, but I do fear that Trev will be on the up for sale list again. No one can be surprised because it’s the same thing that happens every year.
“I mean, it’s literally, it’s like Groundhog Day with Trev. He becomes the best player of the second half of the season, then they try and sell him.”
While Chalobah could be leaving Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window, Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen could be arriving.
It has been claimed that Chelsea have made their move to sign Huijsen, who has a £50m release clause in his contract.
Trevoh Chalobah’s numbers vs Liverpool
Chalobah dealt with a lot of danger during his side’s triumph over Liverpool. Without him, it could have been a very different scoreline on the day.
For example, the 25-year-old made seven clearances, the joint most in the game. He was also able to make three tackles.
Trevoh Chalobah vs Liverpool | Total |
Minutes | 90 |
Clearances | 7 |
Interceptions | 2 |
Tackles | 3 |
Ground duels (won) | 8 (5) |
Aerial duels (won) | 2 (1) |
Since returning from his loan at Crystal Palace, Chalobah probably has been one of Chelsea’s top performers. His latest display is evidence of that.
For whatever reason, though, Chelsea seem determined to sell their academy graduate. And after some of his recent performances, he should have at least a suitor or two come the summer.
