Chelsea are competing with the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich to sign a highly rated young defender.
Even though there are still two crucial matches left in the season for Chelsea, the transfer speculation is beginning to ramp up ahead of the summer window.
The Blues face Nottingham Forest on Sunday on the final day of the Premier League campaign, knowing they may need to win at the City Ground to secure Champions League qualification. Afterwards, Enzo Maresca’s side play in the Conference League final against Real Betis.
If the weekend is successful, Chelsea will be able to offer any transfer targets the chance to play in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge next season.
It’s been reported that Chelsea are planning four big signings this summer to revamp the squad, including a new central defender.

Chelsea to enter talks about signing Cristhian Mosquera
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are soon expected to ramp up their interest in signing Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.
It is understood that the 20-year-old is attracting interest from the likes of the Blues, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Atletico Madrid and RB Leipzig.
Apparently, Chelsea will soon ‘initiate talks’ over signing the Spain Under-21 international.
The report adds that La Liga club Valencia may be open to selling Mosquera for as little as €25m (£21m) because he’s out of contract with them in 2026.
Many Blues supporters will argue that the club needs to prioritise adding some more experience to the backline. In fact, Ian Wright claims Chelsea need a Thiago Silva profile to help guide such a young group of players.
However, the latest transfer rumours involving Mosquera indicates that the transfer policy to recruit young stars for the future isn’t going away.
Elsewhere, it’s been claimed that Chelsea admire 21-year-old defender Ben Nelson from Leicester City. Also, reports say that Chelsea are prioritising 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax this summer.

Cristhian Mosquera for £21m would be a steal
Even though Mosquera is still a young defensive option, his bargain price means he could be too good to ignore this summer.
The Spanish youngster is an extremely talented centre-half with great strength, speed and experience. He fits the bill as a modern-day defender who’s great on the ball, too.
Despite his youth, Mosquera has already played 89 first-team games in Valencia colours. He has continued to impress in the Spanish top division this campaign as well.

As Chelsea prepare for discussions with Valencia’s rising star, it will be interesting to see if he buys into the Blues project.
