The opening round of group stage matches at the Club World Cup is over, and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto should be very pleased with data that has emerged.

Chelsea got their Club World Cup tournament underway with a 2-0 victory against Los Angeles FC on Monday. Next, the Blues face Flamengo on Friday night in a huge match in Group D.

There have already been some impressive performers in the 32-team competition, particularly from some of the South American clubs.

In Chelsea’s victory against LAFC, Pedro Neto delivered a standout display on the right wing, scoring a brilliant solo goal after a clever bit of skill inside the penalty box.

The American media described Neto as “Chelsea’s best player” after his dazzling performance. Can the 25-year-old Blues attacker now kick on and shine for the rest of the tournament?

Pedro Neto top of two attacking statistics in opening round of Club World Cup

Now that every team has played once at the Club World Cup, the summer tournament is beginning to take shape.

WhoScored data has shared via X that Chelsea’s Neto currently sits top in two interesting attacking statistics. No player has made more key passes than him, plus nobody has completed more successful dribbles in the first set of group games.

Mario Melchiot has urged Neto to step up and become more of a key figure in Chelsea’s XI.

The winger’s record of seven goals and nine assists in 46 games across all competitions for the Blues is decent for his first year at the club. However, he’s still capable of being more consistent in attack to help ease the burden off Cole Palmer.

John Obi Mikel confidently predicts Neto is getting better and is a great signing for Chelsea.

If the Portugal international can build on a positive individual start to the Club World Cup, it would give him a superb springboard to go into next season.

Nicolas Jackson and Thiago Silva records at the Club World Cup

Elsewhere, nobody played more accurate through balls than Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson in the first set of games at the Club World Cup.

It was Jackson’s clever pass that assisted Neto’s goal against LAFC. The centre-forward is under the spotlight right now because everyone wants to see how he will respond to Liam Delap’s arrival as competition.

Elsewhere, Fluminense defender and former Blues star Thiago Silva has won the most aerial duels at the Club World Cup so far.

Chelsea fans are amazed by Silva’s quality after seeing him shine in a goalless draw against Borussia Dortmund.
