After years of heartbreak, near-misses, and relentless taunts about a supposed “trophy curse,” Harry Kane has finally done it.

The 31-year-old England captain and one of the greatest goal-scorers of his generation can now — at long last — call himself a champion.

Kane secured the first major trophy of his senior career on Sunday as Bayern Munich were officially crowned Bundesliga champions, clinching their record-extending 33rd league title after Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Freiburg confirmed they could no longer catch the Bavarians.

Kane waited longer (694 games) than any major modern striker before winning a first club trophy.

From Final Heartbreaks to Finally Holding Silver

It has been a long, agonizing road to the top for Kane. Before this historic moment, the prolific striker had played 694 matches for club and country without lifting a single major team trophy.

He came painfully close on multiple occasions:

Lost the Champions League final (2019)

Fell short in two Carabao Cup finals

Defeated in two European Championship finals with England

Missed out on the German Super Cup in his very first match with Bayern

Each near-miss added fuel to the theory of a “Kane trophy curse” — a phrase rival fans wore like a badge of honor.

But that cruel narrative died in Munich on Sunday.

“What a Night”: Harry Kane Reacts with Joy and Champagne

In a video posted Monday morning, a visibly emotional Kane described his feelings:

“What a night last night, what a celebration with the players, with the staff… It just feels sweet to win the title — the first one of my career.”

He added: “A lot of hard work, a lot of dedication… I can’t wait to celebrate with the fans at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. And then, as always, we look forward to the next one — and go again to try and get number two.”

Shortly after Bayern’s title confirmation, Kane posted a simple trophy emoji on a black background on Instagram — followed by a video of him drenched in champagne and belting out Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”

Kane: Already a Bayern Legend

Since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, Kane has done exactly what he promised — score goals. And lots of them.

36 goals in his debut Bundesliga season

24 goals and counting this term

Broke a league record two weeks ago with 60 goals in his first 60 Bundesliga games

On track to become the first player ever to finish top scorer in his first two Bundesliga seasons

At Spurs, Kane became the club’s all-time top scorer and climbed to second in the Premier League’s all-time scoring chart, just behind Alan Shearer.

Internationally, he stands atop England’s goal-scoring list. But until now, all those records lacked a crown jewel.

The club will be formally presented with the Meisterschale (Bundesliga trophy) next Saturday in front of a packed Allianz Arena as they host Borussia Mönchengladbach.

With the Bundesliga title secured, Kane and Bayern may already be thinking ahead — DFB-Pokal glory, another league title, and the elusive Champions League.

But for now, Harry Kane is finally — and deservedly — off the mark.

A career once described as “cursed” now has its first golden chapter. And if the champagne-soaked scenes in Munich are anything to go by, he has no intention of stopping at one. Kane waited longer (694 games) than any major modern striker before winning a first club trophy.
