In-form Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers capped off the Scottish Premiership campaign in style, scoring his 29th goal of the season to help Rangers earn a 2-2 draw against Hibernian at at Easter Road.
Dessers opened the scoring just two minutes into the match.
Hibernian goalkeeper Jordan Smith’s clearance was nodded back by Nicolas Raskin into the path of an unmarked Dessers, who struck on the turn to give Rangers the early lead.
The goal marked his 29th strike across all competitions this season, equaling his career-best tally set in the 2016/17 season with NAC Breda in the Netherlands.
This season, Dessers’ 29 goals came in 55 appearances, 18 in the league, four in the League Cup, three each in the Europa League and Scottish Cup, and one in the Champions League qualifiers.
While it took him fewer games (40) to hit that number in 2017, this campaign represents arguably a more demanding and higher-level achievement.
Kieron Bowie equalised for Hibernian before halftime, but Rangers restored their lead four minutes into the second half through a Nicolas Raskin flicked effort from a corner.
However, Martin Boyle’s header in the 66th minute sealed a draw for the hosts.
Dessers played the full 90 minutes, leading the Rangers’ frontline with energy and purpose.
His Nigerian compatriot, defender Leon Balogun, started but was forced off after just 10 minutes due to injury.
The 30-year-old forward finishes the season as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 18 goals, two more than Celtic’s Daizen Maeda and Ross County’s Simon Murray.
Rangers ended the season second on the table with 75 points, 17 behind champions Celtic.
Since joining Rangers, Dessers has now scored 51 goals and registered 16 assists in 109 appearances, a solid return that underlines his importance to the team.
