There are a lot of players in Chelsea’s current squad that Enzo Maresca must love, with it being filled with quality.
While Chelsea‘s form this season has been very patchy, they have a lot of good footballers on their roster.
The above would include the likes of Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez. Caicedo has really shown how good he is in the current campaign with some of his performances, and his displays have certainly not gone unnoticed.
The Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season and Player of the Season awards recently went to him, but the midfielder is not the only individual Maresca will appreciate.
Wesley Fofana one of Enzo Maresca’s favourite players
Wesley Fofana has only played 14 matches this season, with injuries once again limiting his game time. In the last campaign, the central defender did not feature at all.
Even so, he is in Maresca’s top three favourite Chelsea players, according to journalist Matt Law.
Speaking about Fofana on the London Is Blue podcast, Law said: “Enzo absolutely loves Fofana. He rates him so, so highly and he thinks that Chelsea are a different team with Fofana in it.”
Law later went on to add: “Enzo does absolutely adore him. He’s literally in his top three favourite Chelsea players, I know that for a fact.”
Because of all of his injury problems, Chelsea are likely to sign a new centre-back this summer or possibly even two. It has been reported that Chelsea are targeting Dean Huijsen and Marc Guehi.
Maresca may very well be a huge fan of Fofana, but he cannot rely on the Frenchman right now. It is one reason why bringing in Huijsen or Guehi makes a lot of sense.
Wesley Fofana could have chance to return to France
Paris Saint-Germain are France’s top team, recently making the Champions League final. If Fofana is forced out of Stamford Bridge this summer and wants to return to his homeland, then PSG would be ideal.
However, there is nothing to suggest that the Ligue 1 champions are interested in him. Rather, it is Marseille who are thought to be keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old.
According to Foot Mercato, Marseille are still interested in signing Fofana after targeting him in 2024.
