Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has made changes to the squad set to face Russia in an upcoming international friendly, with Brentford’s rising talent Benjamin Fredrick among the latest additions.
Fredrick, who was not part of the initial list, earned his place after an impressive display against Jamaica in the final of the Unity Cup.
The young defender played the full match and stood out with his defensive solidity, composure on the ball, and ability to carry and distribute effectively — qualities that caught the attention of the coaching staff.
Three players from the Nigeria Professional Football League have also been included in the restructured squad.
Isaac Saviour (Enugu Rangers), along with Remo Stars duo Sodiq Ismail and Sikiru Alimi, join Papa Daniel (Niger Tornadoes), who had already made the squad.
Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has also been confirmed as part of the team travelling to Russia.
For the NPFL players, this call-up represents a valuable opportunity to cement their places in the national setup.
As for Fredrick, it’s a significant step in proving he has what it takes to become a regular feature for the Super Eagles.
