The magnitude of players who have come through the door at Chelsea have made it difficult for supporters to keep track on the progress of all of them.
Many have found regular minutes out on loan, with the long-term ambition being to break into the first team setup at Stamford Bridge.
The most succesSful example of this has been Andrey Santos, who has spent time at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg instead of making his competitive Chelsea debut.
Todd Boehly has praised Santos as a player he is really excited about, with him set to be part of Enzo Maresca’s first team squad next season.
On the same day a deal was agreed for the Brazilian, the Blues confirmed the signing of David Datro Fofana, who made sporadic appearances under Graham Potter before moving out on loan.
Forgotten Chelsea man back in training
He spent the first half of the campaign at Goztepe, however Fofana was recalled in January after only playing nine games in the early stages of the season.
Having played no football since returning, it will have come as a shock to some when Nizaar Kinsella reported that he was back on the grass training again.
He said: “Gabriel Slonina was training with the goalkeepers today. David Datro Fofana was out on grass after a serious knee injury too.”
Fofana has not played for Chelsea since a brief cameo against Manchester United in May of 2023. He has never started a Premier League game for the Blues.
Fofana’s Chelsea future
Despite being signed for a significant transfer fee, there is no talk of Fofana being the answer to Chelsea’s goalscoring woes.
Chelsea pushed hard for Fofana to leave last summer, with them hoping for a permanent fee but having to settle for a second successive loan deal.
By all accounts, it is going to be the same story again this summer, with the striker one of many players they will be looking to move on at the end of the campaign.
His chances of breaking through will be dampened even more if Chelsea sign a top striker. This signing is seen as the priority going into this summer.
