Nigerian winger, Moses Simon reached a major career milestone over the weekend, making his 200th appearance for FC Nantes in their 1–1 Ligue 1 draw away to AJ Auxerre.

While it wasn’t his most impactful performance, the significance of the occasion and his long-standing contribution to the club remain unquestionable.

Simon, who joined the Canaries in August 2019, has become a central figure at the club, consistently delivering when it matters.

Across his 200 matches in all competitions including Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Trophée des Champions, Coupe de la Ligue, and the UEFA Europa League he has tallied an impressive 36 goals and 41 assists.

This season alone, the Super Eagles forward has been involved in 16 league goals, with seven goals and nine assists in 32 appearances.

His consistency and creativity have been crucial in keeping Nantes afloat in a relegation-threatened campaign that has seen the club struggle for form but remain within reach of safety.

With just one match remaining in the Ligue 1 season, Simon is expected to play a pivotal role once again as Nantes battles to maintain their top-flight status.

Adding to his week of recognition, Simon was among the nominees at the Ligue 1 end-of-season awards held on Sunday.

Although he missed out on the Player of the Season shortlist, the Nigerian received a nomination for Goal of the Season for his spectacular solo effort against Rennes in December.

That particular goal, which saw Simon beat four defenders before curling a brilliant finish into the net, was one of the season’s standout moments.

However, the award ultimately went to Amine Gouiri for his goal against Brest.

As Nantes head into their decisive final match, all eyes will once again be on Moses Simon to deliver.
