Super Eagles assistant coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu has praised Saviour Isaac, calling him one of the best midfielders in the country.

Isaac, who has been a standout performer for Enugu Rangers this season, was included among the domestic-based players in the Super Eagles’ 26-man squad for the Unity Cup, set to take place later this month in London.

The tournament kicks off on Tuesday, May 27, with Trinidad and Tobago facing Jamaica in the opening semifinal. Nigeria will take on Ghana the next day in the second semifinal.

Speaking in an interview with AllNigeriaSoccer, Ilechukwu, who also manages Isaac at Rangers, lauded the 23-year-old’s consistent form and attitude.

“Saviour is one of the best midfielders in Nigeria presently with almost ten goals and not a striker, and most of the goals were strikes from outside the box. He has the capacity and the quality. I am very happy for him.”

Isaac has netted nine goals in 31 league appearances this season and notably scored a brace against a Kano Pillars.

He also featured in all of Rangers’ CAF Champions League qualifying games and was part of the Super Eagles B squad that beat Ghana to qualify for the African Nations Championship.

With continued performances at this level and the exposure from national team duties, Isaac is gradually making a name for himself as one of the NPFL’s brightest prospects one who could soon become a regular feature in the Super Eagles midfield.
