One Chelsea target could have a big decision to make when the transfer window opens again on Monday as he continues to attract interest from multiple clubs.
Stamford Bridge is likely to be one possible destination for him, with Chelsea looking to bring in a new central defender.
The Blues were able to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in the last transfer window to strengthen their forward line and could now turn their attention to the defence.
Chelsea do not want to overpay for Marc Guehi, but he remains an option. There is also thought to be interest in Ajax’s Jorrel Hato.
Jorrel Hato evaluating Chelsea’s long-term project
Capable of playing in central defence and at left-back, Hato has caught Chelsea’s attention.
According to TEAMtalk, the 19-year-old is now “evaluating” Chelsea’s long-term project ahead of potentially joining Enzo Maresca‘s side.
However, the outlet claims that he is also doing the same thing with Arsenal, who are also interested in his services.
Chelsea and Arsenal targeting Hato comes as no surprise, given his versatility and potential. “[He’s] special in the sense that he has been able to stand his ground for so long and that he continues to reach such a high level,” former Ajax boss John van ‘t Schip was quoted as saying by Goal last year.
All in all, Hato will likely have to choose between Chelsea and Arsenal this summer, though Liverpool have also been linked with the Dutch youngster.
When Chelsea hope to complete Jorrel Hato signing by
In an ideal world, Chelsea would like to complete the signing of Hato after the Club World Cup, it has been claimed. Arsenal and Liverpool’s interest, though, means that they may have to try and wrap up a deal sooner.
Maresca has options in the centre-back positions, with Levi Colwill, Tosin Adarabioyo, Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile all able to play there.
Instead, where the Chelsea head coach has an issue is at left-back, but Hato could help out there, as well as in central defence if needed. Whether Chelsea can land him, though, may come down to how appealing he finds their project, it seems.
