Reece James and Levi Colwill are two of Chelsea’s most important players.

Injuries have limited the amount of games that James has been able to play this season, but the 25-year-old is still Chelsea captain and has been used in multiple positions by Enzo Maresca.

As for Colwill, he has been Chelsea’s first-choice centre-back, making 33 starts in the Premier League.

Colwill has enjoyed working under Maresca, but rumours have emerged claiming that both the 22-year-old and James could find their spots in the Chelsea squad in danger this summer.

Agents fear Reece James and Levi Colwill sales

Chelsea are fighting for a place in next season’s Champions League, and failure to qualify for Europe’s elite competition looks like it could have some serious ramifications.

According to The Sun, the financial hit the Blues will take if they miss out on Champions League football again will force them to make sales.

And the outlet claims that some agents fear the likes of James and Colwill could be sold to balance the books.

Coming through Chelsea’s academy, selling James and Colwill would see the club make pure profit, though it is unlikely to go down well with supporters.

Colwill has already been linked to Liverpool, who may need a replacement for Ibrahima Konate. Interestingly, Konate has been considered by Chelsea as he approaches the final year of his contract at Anfield.

Reece James misses Chelsea training

Some may not be against the sale of James if a big offer comes in for him in the summer. As much as Chelsea fans adore their skipper, the England international struggles to stay fit.

Ahead of what could be their most important game of the season against Manchester United on Friday, James has not been seen in training.

It is worrying, though being one of the best right-backs in the league when he is fit, Chelsea should think twice before they consider selling James. And the same applies to Colwill, a modern-day central defender who has so much potential.
