One of Chelsea’s most impressive loanees from last season now looks as if he has no future at Stamford Bridge.
Djordje Petrovic starred for BlueCo sister club Strasbourg last season after being sent away from the Blues due to Enzo Maresca’s demands of playing out from the back.
Petrovic didn’t sound keen on leaving the Ligue 1 side at the end of the season, however the Club World Cup presented a chance for him to show the manager that he has developed his game.
As the club announced their squad for the competition in the United States, the Serbian was nowhere to be seen, sparking rumours regarding his future.

Djordje Petrovic demanded Chelsea make him first-choice goalkeeper
Petrovic has been told he can leave, and this could stem back to an ultImatum he gave the club when the 2024/25 season came to an end.
Matt Law has claimed that the goalkeeper demanded to the club that he wanted to be guaranteed first-choice shot stopper if he was to stay in West London.
He told ‘London is Blue’: “About 3 weeks ago, Petrovic basically said, ‘If I’m to come back and play for Chelsea, I want to be guaranteed that I am the first choice. I now consider myself a first-choice goalkeeper.’”
The Serbia international was the number one for the second half of the season under Mauricio Pochettino, however doesn’t look set to build on that under Maresca.

Premier League interest in Petrovic
After a fantastic campaign in France, it is no surprise that a number of Ligue 1 sides are keen on signing the goalkeeper this summer.
However, there is a chance that he could line up against Chelsea in the Premier League next season, with a number of clubs making their interest in his services known.
West Ham, Leeds and Bournemouth all want Petrovic, with the latter having a great experience with Blues loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga last season. He is set to move to Arsenal this summer.
Chelsea fans will likely not want to be facing him next season, however will have to accept that he is not part of the club’s long-term plans under the current manager.
