In a game with an abundance of VAR controversy, it was the home side who emerged victorious – but it wasn’t an easy ride.
It was Enzo Fernandez who got Maresca’s men over the line. The Chelsea captain’s bullet header in the 50th minute was enough to separate the two London clubs on Thursday evening.
Chelsea had some standout performers against Spurs. Moises Caicedo was sensational, Robert Sanchez was inspired and Cole Palmer looked back to his normal self. A solid outing for the Blues.
The victory was received well on social media, of course, with fans more than happy with how they battled at Stamford Bridge on the night.
But it wasn’t just fans who were delighted with the outcome. Former Chelsea skipper and Blues legend Thiago Silva also reacted to the Premier League victory.

Silva took to Instagram to react to Chelsea’s win over Spurs. The official Blues account posted the following message, ‘A massive derby win’, accompanied by a full-time graphic.
Silva’s message was found in the comments. The Brazilian footballing icon was one of the first to react, commenting with an abundance of love hearts.
The former centre-back may not be playing for the Blues anymore, but his undying love for the club always shines through.
Silva was such a bargain for Chelsea, and undoubtedly one of the best defenders to ever pull on a Chelsea shirt. Despite his age, his overall class and longevity are shown in some phenomenal stats.

Over one hundred Blues supporters replied to Silva’s message, with an overwhelming adoration for the former star.
‘We miss you monstro’, one writes. Another adds: ‘Forever a Chelsea legend‘.
Many ‘thanks legend’ and ‘come back’ were also found within the responses – along with a plethora of goat emojis – which speaks for itself.
What a man. He, and many supporters, certainly enjoyed that Thursday evening more than most.
