Todd Boehly has held an active interest in Chelsea since he became part of the boardroom staff in the summer of 2022.

The American has frequently been seen in attendance at games at Stamford Bridge, whether that is alongside fellow owner Behdad Eghbali or alone.

Boehly is pushing for a new stadium to be put in place as soon as possible, however his interests don’t just lie with making money off the pitch.

He has made himself knowledgeable about what is going on during matches, and has even noticed that the club’s injury record is poor and needs improving.

Todd Boehly ‘really excited’ about unseen Chelsea player

When talking about the upcoming Club World Cup, Boehly pointed out that there would be some new faces for Chelsea fans to get a look at, with him particularly excited about Andrey Santos.

He said to Bloomberg: “We’re going to the Club World Cup, so we are laser focused on the Club World Cup. We have some players that are joining us that weren’t on the team – Andrey Santos, we’re really excited about him and what he can add to the squad.”

Santos was seen in tears after his last game for fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg, after they missed out on the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the season.

Andrey Santos’ phenomenal season

Despite the club not actually achieving their optimistic goals on the final day of the season, they still have a good chance of qualifying for Conference League football, and the midfielder has been key in their efforts.

Santos was named in the Team of the Season alongside fellow loanee Djordje Petrovic, and has added goals to his already very well-developed game.

His brilliance has already seen rival clubs become interested in signing him. Arsenal have recently been linked to the youngster.

However, with a personal seal of approval from the owner, it looks unlikely that he is going to be moving anywhere, and instead going to be making an impression in Enzo Maresca’s first team next season.
