Chelsea look determined to sign AC Milan and France goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the first transfer window of the summer.

Maignan has been on Chelsea’s shortlist for a while now, but the Blues are yet to have any success in their pursuit of his signature.

The transfer window closes on Tuesday evening, so Chelsea are running out of time if they want Maignan to be part of their squad for the Club World Cup.

However, it does not seem like the Conference League winners have given up yet in their bid to sign Maignan.

Chelsea make £18m bid for Mike Maignan

At one point, Chelsea were expected to agree a deal for Maignan on Monday, but that never happened.

The Blues will now be hoping, though, that they can finally strike an agreement with Milan after making another bid for the 29-year-old.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, Chelsea have upped their latest offer for Maignan to £18m. They are now waiting for a response from their Italian counterparts.

Before their move for the France international, Chelsea reportedly considered signing Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona.

In the end, though, Maignan is the goalkeeper who is being prioritised at Stamford Bridge. Maignan made 41 appearances in Serie A last season, keeping 12 clean sheets along the way.

Chelsea prepared to end Mike Maignan interest

While Chelsea are keen on Maignan, the former Lille man is also desperate to join them. Maignan has even threatened to run down his contract in an attempt to force a move to west London.

However, Maignan could be denied his dream transfer if Chelsea and Milan cannot agree a deal before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that the Blues will end their interest in the France star if they fail to sign him in this transfer window.

It means it is now or never for Maignan, who simply has to wait and hope that Chelsea can reach an agreement with his current employers.
