Last season, Axel Disasi slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea, ultimately leading to his loan departure in the January transfer window.

In 2023, Axel Disasi arrived at Chelsea in a £39m deal (Sky Sports) from Monaco. The central defender followed it up with a strong debut campaign with the Blues, making 44 appearances across all competitions under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the Frenchman struggled for minutes in the first half of last season under Enzo Maresca, so he moved to Villa Park on a short-term loan.

Villa are unlikely to sign Disasi permanently in the upcoming summer transfer window. He played just 10 games for Unai Emery’s side, slotting into a role as cover in their squad.

Chelsea expected to offload Axel Disasi

According to Foot Mercato, Disasi’s return to Chelsea this summer from his loan spell at Villa isn’t expected to last long.

It is explained that the 27-year-old player is receiving transfer interest from numerous clubs.

The report claims that Newcastle United and Al-Ahli are both keen on signing the Blues centre-half. He’s being lined up by other interested suitors, too.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was impressed by Chelsea last season after competing directly against them for Champions League qualification. Eventually, both clubs finished in the Premier League’s top five positions to make it a successful season.

The Toon have raided Chelsea recently for Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, with both deals turning out to be extremely successful.

Now, Newcastle are circling as they consider making a move to bring Disasi to St James’ Park.

What Levi Colwill once said about Axel Disasi

It wasn’t that long ago that Disasi and Levi Colwill were lining up together in the same Chelsea defence on a regular basis.

Back in April 2024, Colwill admitted he loves playing with Disasi. The Blues centre-half said: “Axel is a great defender, great on the ball. I can always trust him if anything is going down his side – I know he’ll handle it… I do really enjoy playing next to him.”

However, it sounds like unlikely that they will play together again because Disasi is tipped for an exit.

Even though Disasi is very positive around Chelsea’s dressing room, it’s obvious that Maresca doesn’t fancy him much as a player.
