Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned a 33-year-old man, Fatai Yisa, at the Chief Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti over alleged theft of satchet water. 

 

The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants, being one of the sales boys in a factory between January to June 10, 2025, allegedly stole 1,570 bags of pure water.

 

Inspector Oriyomi puts the value of the stolen water at N549,500.

 

He said the stolen bags of water belong to one Oluwa Tobi Opeyemi, adding that the defendant committed an offence punishable under Section 302 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2021.

 

The defendant denied the charge and his counsel, Barrister Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to admit his client to bail, the request Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned till July 10, for hearing.
