Simon Fuller, the creator of “American Idol,” is facing a divorce after his wife, Natalie Fuller, filed legal papers to end their 16-year marriage. The filing, made on Friday, May 9,  cites “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the split, with the couple listing the date of separation as that day.

The Fullers married in May 2008 and have three children together: a 14-year-old and twin 9-year-olds. In her filing, Natalie is seeking joint legal custody of their children, and she has requested spousal support. Additionally, she is asking the court to prevent Simon from receiving any spousal support.

Reports indicate that the couple had a prenuptial agreement in place. Representatives for Simon Fuller have not yet responded to requests for comment on the matter.
