A person has died in a serious crash on the Gateway Motorway, which is causing major traffic delays in Brisbane.
Commuters were warned to expect 90-minute delays, after the crash involving two trucks and a car near the intersection with Old Cleveland Road at Belmont, just after 5am on Tuesday morning.
Queensland Ambulance Service issued an ‘Active Incident’ alert at 5.10am as they confirmed they were initially treating one person in a critical condition.
Traffic was congested for 19km, with two northbound lanes of the motorway closed as a result of the crash.
Drivers were warned to avoid the area.
Lane closures stretched from Old Cleveland Road where the incident took place to the Logan Motorway.
