At least eight people have been k!lled in a school sho0ting in the Austrian city of Graz.

 

Several others have been injured, including students and teachers, state broadcaster ORF reported, citing local press.

 

The shooting is thought to have involved a student at the school, located in the city of Graz, southern Austria, with a police cordon currently in place on a street named Dreierschuetzengasse.

 

The suspected perpetrator has committed suicide, reports claim. A police operation was underway on Dreierschuetzengasse street, which has a secondary school. However, the authorities have refused to make further comments.

 

Graz Police spokesperson Sabri Yorgun said special forces were among those sent to the high school after a call was received at 10 am, and that authorities were working to gain an overview of what had happened.

 

Authorities initially confirmed five fatalities at the secondary school, a total that has since risen to eight.

 

Students and teachers are believed to be among those dead and seriously injured, ORF reported.

 

In an update posted to X, local authorities confirmed: “The operation is still ongoing. The police helicopter is also in operation.”

 

According to the outlet, the suspect behind the shooting – who is reported to be a pupil at the school – turned the gun on himself following the attack.
