A 15-year-old girl is missing after plunging into New York City’s East River.
Divers with the New York Police Department and Fire Department are in a race against time to try and rescue the teen.
The first report of a drowning person near Roosevelt Island came in at around 12:15pm.
FDNY divers scoured the area, but did not locate anyone.
They turned the area over to the NYPD, which continued the search using harbor units, according to both departments.
A spokesperson for the NYPD said police still don’t know the identity of the girl they are searching for, which means they have not contacted anyone’s family.
