Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has suspended Ibrahim Rabi’u, a Senior Special Reporter attached to the Ministry of Transportation, following what the state government described as unguarded utterances concerning the political standing of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim. In addition to the suspension, the aide has been issued a formal query for making inflammatory remarks suggesting the former governor’s purported defection.
A statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stressed that the views expressed by Rabi’u were personal and did not reflect the official position of the Kano State Government.
“The government cautions all political appointees against unauthorized comments, especially outside their jurisdiction,” the statement read. “Any political appointee must get clearance before making public comments on issues that concern the government’s position on matters of public importance or sensitive political decisions.”
