Vice President JD Vance broke his silence about the military strikes on Iran on Tuesday, bracing supporters of President Donald Trump for possible American military action in the conflict.
The vice president weighed in as supporters of the MAGA movement raged against each other over Israel’s bombing campaign, as some suggested the president had been duped by ‘deep state’ operatives in the intelligence agencies to start a war in the Middle East and betraying his ‘American first’ agenda.
Vance appeared aware of the raging online debate, citing ‘a lot of crazy stuff on social media’ and urged Trump supporters to trust the president.
‘I believe the president has earned some trust on this issue. And having seen this up close and personal, I can assure you that he is only interested in using the American military to accomplish American people’s goals,’ Vance wrote in a lengthly post on Monday.
President Trump, Vice President Vance, and the administration’s military advisors gathered in the Situation Room at the White House on Tuesday after the president cut his trip to the G7 summit short and returned to Washington, DC to monitor the conflict.
But the vice president also acknowledged that Trump could take further action to dismantle Iran’s nuclear facilities.
‘He may decide he needs to take further action to end Iranian enrichment,’ he said. ‘That decision ultimately belongs to the president.’
Vance conceded that he understood Americans who were frustrated that the Trump administration was backing the escalation of war in the Middle East.

President Donald Trump speaks at a White House press briefing
‘Of course, people are right to be worried about foreign entanglement after the last 25 years of idiotic foreign policy,’ he admitted.
Since Israel first bombed targets in Iran on Thursday, the vice president has remained mostly silent about his views on the issue.
But that changed after journalist Tucker Carlson and his former advisor Steve Bannon raised the alarm Monday over the conflict, urging supporters of the president to stand up and oppose more military intervention in the Middle East.
Vance argued that Iran was currently enriching ‘weapons-grade uranium’ which was a problem that the United States and Israel had to address.

Former chief strategist to the President Steve Bannon encouraged him to step back from the conflict in the Middle East.

Former Fox News television personality Tucker Carlson warned the president that a protracted war in the Middle East would be the end of his presidency
‘They’ve been found in violation of their non-proliferation obligations by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is hardly a rightwing organization,’ he wrote, adding that their enrichment program was ‘violating basic non-proliferation obligations.’
Vance also praised Trump for taking ‘remarkable restraint’ in focusing American troops on the defense of American interests in the Middle East.
Shortly after Vance shared his views, Trump announced that the United States had ‘complete and total control of the skies over Iran.’
‘Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured “stuff.” Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,’ he wrote.
