
A South African woman, Lusanda Coboza, 40, and her 19-year-old daughter, Anelisa Hailie-Jade Coboza, 19, were shot d3ad to in their home in Sakhasonke Village, Walmer Location, Gqeberha.
Advocacy group, Women for Change disclosed this in a statement on Monday, May 12, 2025.
The incident occurred on 1 May 2025. Their funeral was held on Saturday, May 10 in Soweto.
According to police, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the Walmer Location. Upon arrival, they discovered Hailie-Jade and her mother with multiple gunshot wounds.
Both were pronounced d3ad at the scene.
The suspects fled, but four men, aged between 28 and 46, were arrested shortly after the horrific m8rders.
Police are investigating cases of conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Hailie-Jade was a Grade 12 learner at Collegiate Girls’ High School in Gqeberha.
“We are heartbroken by the loss of such beautiful souls. Another mother and daughter were murdered. How many more must die before Gender-Based Violence and Femicide are declared a National Disaster,” the group added.
