Lead pastor of Fountain of Life Church and Nollywood actor Jimmy Odukoya has joined the growing wave of outrage over the mass killing of over 200 people in Yelewata, Guma LGA of Benue State, calling it what it truly is — “genocide.”
In a strongly worded Instagram post, Odukoya mourned the senseless massacre and described the tragedy as pure evil and not just another casualty of war.
“My heart bleeds over the genocide happening in Benue. The blood of the innocent cries loud for justice from the earth!”
“Body parts and bones litter the ground and tell a harrowing story of wickedness… Evil that does not discriminate against the old man or the infant child…”
The cleric didn’t mince words in calling out the Nigerian government, urging leaders to wake up to their responsibilities and protect citizens from “men who have no regard for the sanctity of human life.”
Odukoya’s post comes in the wake of national outrage sparked by the night attack that killed hundreds, including women and children. Social media has been flooded with reactions from celebrities like Mr Macaroni, 2Baba, and Tacha, all demanding justice.
President Bola Tinubu has reportedly scheduled a visit to the state following intense pressure from the public, religious leaders, and civil society.
