Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has stated that none of the current presidential hopefuls share his unique background or experiences.

Speaking in an interview with Arise Television on Monday, June 9, the former Governor of Anambra State emphasized his commitment to building a better Nigeria, saying he possesses the necessary qualities and experience to lead the country.

“Let me assure you, I’m committed to a better Nigeria, and I have what it takes. I have the experience of all those who want to be president today. Nobody has my background. I built a business from the ground up in this country. I’ve worked in the corporate world, and I’ve been a governor. I transformed one of the smallest banks into a N25 billion institution,” he said.

Obi also highlighted his financial discipline while in office, noting that he left the Anambra State Government with savings and without any debt.

“I served as governor and left office without owing anyone. I believe I saved more money than any other governor. Since leaving office, I’ve not received any pension or gratuity from the state. Not even a bottle of water has been given to me,” he added.

To reinforce his point, Obi challenged authorities to confiscate any piece of land allegedly allocated to him by the Anambra State Government.
