The suspected driver of a car that ploughed into a crowd at Liverpool’s Premier League victory parade will today appear in court charged with multiple offences such as wounding and causing grievous bodily harm.
Father-of-three Paul Doyle, 53, was transported to Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this morning in a police van before his hearing.
Doyle faces two counts of wounding with intent, two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and one count of dangerous driving.
He was arrested following an incident on Water Street in the city centre on Monday, which resulted in 79 people suffering injuries.

Sarah Hammond, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, said:
The investigation is at an early stage. Prosecutors and police are continuing to work at pace to review a huge volume of evidence.
This includes multiple pieces of video footage and numerous witness statements. It is important to ensure every victim gets the justice they deserve. The charges will be kept under review as the investigation progresses.

Merseyside Police announced Doyle was charged with multiple offences and said detectives are working to answer questions and concerns surrounding the parade.

Mr Doyle was arrested after a Ford Galaxy people carrier ploughed through a crowd of fans in the city centre, leaving some 79 people injured, with 50 needing hospital treatment.
The youngest victim was just nine and the eldest 78 – with all victims believed to be British.
Police believe the car tailgated an ambulance racing to a heart attack victim before unleashing horror at the end of the Premier League champions’ open-topped bus celebrations.
Seven people remain in hospital but are said to be recovering. Several children were injured in the carnage.
