Nigerian reality TV star and chef, Uriel Oputa, has expressed outrage over a recent viral comment made by controversial music personality Speed Darlington, involving an underage girl.
In a disturbing Instagram Live session that sparked public backlash, Speed Darlington narrated how he slept with a 15 year old girl who was a virgin.
The singer has since backtracked on his statement claiming it was just a story he put out there to trend because he has a new song coming out. He then apologized to his fans.
However, Uriel took to her Instagram stories to slam Speed Darlington for trivializing such a serious issue. Without directly naming him at first, she referenced the disturbing remark and described her reaction:
“I haven’t been able to sleep properly. Because how is it that the alleged rape of a minor has become a joke? A trending topic? A clout-chasing opportunity?”
She called the comment “disgusting” and added that she “detests everything about that human being.”
Uriel further stated:
“Let me be clear: as an auntie to two young girls around that same age—and another who’s growing into it—I’m absolutely livid.”
The ex-BBNaija star also criticized the normalization of such talk by someone who has lived abroad and should know better, saying she was “shaking with rage and heartbreak.”
“I won’t say anything else. I’m traumatized. And honestly, deeply disappointed,” she concluded.
