Nigerian singer Simi has politely asked fans to stop referring to her daughter as Duduke.

In a recent interview with media personality VJ Adams, Simi explained that Duduke isn’t her daughter’s name and doesn’t mean anything.

“Some people call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t mean anything,” she said. “Assuming it even means something good like blessing… but Duduke doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a beat — that’s what I meant. My heartbeat like a drum.”

She added that while she knows it comes from a good place, it’s still uncomfortable for her as a parent.

“I try not to react too much to that, but stop calling my child Duduke.”

Simi and her husband Adekunle Gold welcomed their daughter in 2020.
