A Hawaiian airlines flight had to be diverted off the tarmac on Tuesday after a passenger onboard made threats about the safety of the aircraft.
The Honolulu bound flight was taxiing at San Diego International when the as yet unknown passenger made a comment. Fox5 had reported it was a bomb threat.
The plane had left the gate around 8:30am local time when the guest was overheard making the remark.
Hawaiian airlines said in a statement that they ‘immediately taxied’ the Airbus A330 to a safe location and contacted the relevant authorities.
They said: ‘There was a security incident this morning involving Hawaiian Airlines Flight 15 from San Diego to Honolulu.
‘During pushback from the gate, a guest was overheard making a threat to the safety of our aircraft.
‘As a precaution, the captain immediately taxied the Airbus A330 to a safe location on the airfield, where it was met with local and federal law enforcement and guests were safely deplaned.’
