Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has doubled down on his controversial stance regarding surrogacy and pregnancy after backlash trailed his earlier comments on social media.

In a new Instagram post, Arole responded to critics who accused him of being judgmental and out of touch for suggesting that healthy women should not opt for surrogacy unless it is for medical reasons.

His latest post reads:

“Whatever thing we are doing naw is sending a signal to the younger generation, teenagers and young mind. Imagine your 17yrs old sister saying ‘When I am married too, I won’t use my womb to have child Oooo’. My body is my choice. All we do and say here is creating a MINDSET.”

Arole added in his caption:

“Just Imagine and a lot of people want to be defending pure RUBBISH!!!!!. We are creating a MINDSET Abeg!!!!!!. Thank GOD that we have a VOICE and a PLATFORM to speak the truth either people love the TRUTH or hate the TRUTH!!!!!”

This post comes just hours after Arole stirred controversy with his Instagram story where he stated that:

“It is a blessing for a WOMAN to carry her baby in her WOMB. That’s how GOD wants IT. Don’t let WOKENESS derail you. Unless for medical reasons… You can’t say my BODY my DECISION… Noooo!!! Your body is God’s TEMPLE!!!”

While some of his followers praised him for standing up for his beliefs, others argued that women have the right to choose whatever path to motherhood they desire — especially if they have the means.

One user commented:

“As long as she has the money for surrogacy, her body, her choice nao… Just make sure you discuss this before marriage.”
