Chelsea target who ‘knows how to score’ told he can leave this summer with asking price now set

Chelsea could have the opportunity to solve their striker dilemma by raiding one of their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea are interested in Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, but the 22-year-old is not the only Premier League forward they are currently looking at.

Delap has reached double figures for goals this season; however, that has not been enough to keep his team in the top flight.

Delap joining Chelsea or Manchester United is possible following Ipswich’s relegation, while Joao Pedro moving to Stamford Bridge also cannot be ruled out.

    Joao Pedro available for £59m

Last week, it was reported that Chelsea are showing interest in Pedro, who has scored 10 goals in 30 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion during the current campaign.

He is one of the Seagulls’ star players, but it looks like he will be available for transfer in a big boost for Chelsea.

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has claimed on X that Pedro will be allowed to leave this summer and that he has an asking price of €70m (£59m).

Chelsea have done plenty of business with Brighton in recent windows, signing Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez from their Premier League rivals.

The signings of Caicedo and Cucurella have worked out very well, with the latter scoring the winner for Chelsea in their 1-0 win against United last Friday.

Since then, John Obi Mikel has praised Cucurella for turning his Chelsea career around after a difficult start.

What Joao Pedro’s former manager Roberto De Zerbi has said about him

Pedro has many admirers, including ex-Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, who rates him very highly as an attacker.

When De Zerbi spoke about Pedro after one pre-season game last term, he told The Argus and others: “He knows how to score, he has the abilities to attack the spaces on the field, he has incredible technical abilities and I am excited for this new player.”

Nicolas Jackson needs competition; perhaps Pedro is the man who can offer him that. Chelsea fans will probably feel much more confident about the 2025/26 campaign if they have both of those centre-forwards in their squad.
