The haunted Annabelle doll, known from paranormal stories and horror films, sparked online panic after rumours spread that it had gone missing during a tour stop in Louisiana.
The speculation intensified following a recent fire at Nottoway Resort in White Castle, formerly Nottoway Plantation. Though unrelated, some online users began suggesting a connection between the blaze and the doll’s supposed disappearance.
Claims that the doll vanished emerged on social media when visitors said they did not see it during a paranormal tour. Posts on X, formerly Twitter, quickly gained traction, with users expressing fear and disbelief.
However, the rumour was quickly debunked by Dan Rivera of NESPR (New England Society for Psychic Research). Rivera posted a video from inside the Warrens Occult Museum in Monroe, Connecticut, showing the doll securely housed in its glass case.
He confirmed there had been no movement or loss. “She/it is NOT lost and here’s Dan Rivera with NESPR proving she is back home inside the museum in Connecticut,” another user clarified online.
The Annabelle doll, a Raggedy Ann toy believed by Ed and Lorraine Warren to be possessed in the 1970s, has become a legendary figure in paranormal lore. Despite public fascination and cinematic fame, it remains securely contained and has not left its museum location.
Officials have also confirmed there is no link between the Louisiana fire and the Annabelle doll. The panic, they said, was based entirely on misinformation.
