One striker no longer looks to be a potential option for Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window.
The centre-forward position is an area Chelsea are expected to strengthen this summer, with the club being linked with several different names.
For example, it was claimed last month that Chelsea have an interest in Hugo Ekitike, who has impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt this season. In 46 appearances for the German team, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals.
However, another Bundesliga star looks like he will definitely be staying where he currently is.
Serhou Guirassy set to stay at Borussia Dortmund
Thanks to a very specific release clause, Chelsea can sign Serhou Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund this summer if the Guinea international is open to a move.
As of now, though, Guirassy seemingly has no interest in joining the Blues or any other team for that matter.
According to Sport Bild, Guirassy has told Dortmund bosses that he will not leave Signal Iduna Park for any of the clubs who are able to trigger his release clause.
The same outlet claims that his current release clause is set at €70m (£59.5m) and that a select number of top European outfits can activate it, including Chelsea.
From the Blues’ point of view, it may not necessarily be a blow as they continue to target the likes of Ekitike and Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.
At this moment in time, Delap is the striker Chelsea are intensely pursuing after a strong campaign at Portman Road.
Why Serhou Guirassy could have been perfect for Enzo Maresca
Compared to Delap and Ekitike, Guirassy has way more experience as a 29-year-old. It is something Enzo Maresca‘s squad currently lacks.
His goal record these past two seasons has also been phenomenal, with the former Stuttgart man netting 32 goals in all competitions this term.
Guirassy’s 2024/25 and 2023/24 stats | Appearances | Goals |
2024/25 | 43 | 32 |
2023/24 | 30 | 30 |
Total | 73 | 52 |
Guirassy looks content with life at Dortmund, though, while Chelsea appear to be more interested in Delap and Ekitike.
