Alex Iwobi’s impressive season continues to earn him accolades, as his well-taken goal against Chelsea has been shortlisted for Fulham’s Goal of the Month award for April.

The Super Eagles midfielder gave Fulham the lead in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on April 20 with a clinical left-footed strike.

After receiving the ball near the edge of the penalty area, Iwobi took a composed first touch and calmly slotted the ball past Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez in the 20th minute to put the Cottagers ahead.

Although Fulham eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat, with the Blues netting twice late on to snatch all three points, Iwobi’s opener stood out as a moment of individual brilliance and attacking composure in an otherwise frustrating outing.

Iwobi’s goal is one of several nominated for Fulham’s monthly award. Notably, another player of Nigerian descent, Chibuzo Nwoko, also earned a nomination for his stunning strike for Fulham U21s in the Premier League 2 playoffs against Nottingham Forest.

The young midfielder made an immediate impact after coming on in the 84th minute, collecting the ball at the edge of the box before rifling a shot into the top corner in extra time a memorable moment that helped his side progress.

The shortlist also features efforts from Rodrigo Muniz, Luke Parker, Seth Ridgeon, Emile Smith Rowe, and Ryan Sessegnon, who received double nominations for his goals against Southampton and Liverpool.

For Iwobi, the recognition is another highlight in what has been a standout campaign. With nine goals and six assists in 35 Premier League appearances, he is enjoying the most productive season of his club career.

His creativity, movement, and ability to unlock defences have made him a central figure in Marco Silva’s setup.

Fulham fans can vote for their favourite striker via the club’s official platforms, with Iwobi looking to cap off his fine form with individual honours.
