Chelsea have looked to push on with the summer transfer window quickly in order to get themselves best placed for the Club World Cup in the United States.

Enzo Maresca’s side are looking to compete heavily for the tournament, with significant financial gain set for those who do well in America.

Chelsea have already announced the signing of Liam Delap ahead of the competition, with him having pulled out of England U21 action in order to hit the ground running with the Blues.

Many believed the striker position was the one the club needed to strengthen the most, however this was closely followed by goalkeeper after the underwhelming campaigns for Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

Chelsea expected to announce second summer signing on Monday

Mike Maignan has emerged at the top of the list as far as Chelsea are concerned. Maignan is keen to move to Stamford Bridge, with his AC Milan contract entering its final year.

Talks are moving quickly between both clubs over the potential deal, with the Blues pushing to have him in before this week’s temporary deadline ahead of the Club World Cup.

According to Gazzetta, a deal is expected to be reached over the signing, with Maignan set to sign after the details are sorted out between Sunday and Monday.

Chelsea will be hoping to get the Serie A side’s valuation down after Milan were holding out for £25m for the France international.

The Blues are closing in on a number of signings, with it being reported that personal terms have been agreed with Jamie Gittens.

Maignan signing could signal the end of Chelsea star

After a poor season, it has to be said that Sanchez impressed during crunch time of the 24/25 campaign.

Despite defending his goalkeeper during rough media coverage at times, it has now been reported that Maresca has lost faith in Sanchez, almost certainly encouraging Chelsea’s activity in this position.

Sanchez was offered to West Ham as the Blues pitched a potential swap deal for Mohammed Kudus, however it is believed that was firmly rejected.

A reunion with Graham Potter would likely suit all parties, however the Blues will be hoping they get the better end of the stick as they prepare for a return to Champions League football.
