Chelsea have set their sights on a prolific striker who’s been in excellent form this season for a club in Europe’s top five leagues.
It’s a common feeling within the fanbase that the Chelsea squad is crying out for a new signing in the centre-forward position this summer.
Micah Richards’ transfer advice to Chelsea is they need to sign a new forward, especially because it’ll help ease the pressure off Nicolas Jackson at Stamford Bridge.
We’re confident that Enzo Maresca’s side will be in a much better spot next season if they manage to add a 20-goal frontman to their ranks, something which certainly isn’t easy to find in the market.
Chelsea interested in signing Patrik Schick
According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are one of the teams monitoring Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick as a potential transfer target.
It is explained that the Blues are joined by Arsenal and Manchester United in sharing an interest in the 29-year-old frontman. Apparently, the three Premier League giants are ‘closely monitoring’ him.
The report adds that German outfit Leverkusen could listen to offers in the region of €30-40m (£26-34m) for Schick, whose future is in doubt ahead of the summer window.
Schick, who’s scored 25 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions this season for Leverkusen, ticks a major box as a clinical finisher.
In fact, the Czech Republic international has an eye-catching scoring rate in this year’s German Bundesliga, which is one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Appearances | Goals | Mins per goal | Total shots | Shot accuracy |
29 | 19 | 82 | 65 | 51% |
Chelsea have discussed Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, 29, as a transfer option. He’s certainly an interesting target because the centre-back is out of contract in the summer.
Let’s wait and see if the Blues attempt to recruit more than one player from Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen team.
Patrik Schick could be serious value for money
It’s been claimed that Chelsea can afford a ‘major acquisition’ at striker when the next transfer window opens.
Well, Schick could be the answer to lead the line for a maximum of £34m, which is a potential bargain fee in the current market.
The 6ft 3in striker has the kind of experienced CV that definitely makes him an attractive option for a Chelsea group crying out for some more know-how. For instance, he’s scored 79 goals in 166 appearances since joining Leverkusen in 2020.
Schick is not blessed with the same kind of pace as Jackson, but he could be a great alternative because he’s intelligent in the box and a natural finisher on his stronger left foot.
