The Chelsea squad is set to undergo plenty of changes this summer as they prepare to financially back Enzo Maresca for his second season at the club.
The Blues are already making moves in the transfer market ahead of the financially-lucrative Club World Cup, with Liam Delap being brought in to represent them in the United States.
With a number of other names being linked with the move to Stamford Bridge, they will be safe in the knowledge that they are going to have to part ways with a number of players from their current squad.
The official Chelsea website announced the list of players who had been retained and released from their contracts, with some now being available at the end of the month to other sides on a free transfer.
Chelsea release Conference League winner Lucas Bergstrom
Of the players to be released, one of those was goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom, who spent time on loan at Peterborough and Brommapojkarna in order to gain first team experience.
Fellow shot stoppers Eddie Beach and Luke Campbell have also been let go, after playing plenty of minutes for the Under 18s this season.
Dylan Williams and Marcell Washington will also be playing their football away from Chelsea now, however it is the departure of Bergstrom which is the most noteworthy for supporters.
Lucas Bergstrom’s Chelsea career
The 22-year-old has been on the books at Chelsea for more than six years, and in that time has established himself as a full Finland international.
Bergstrom was also included in the matchday squad for the Conference League final victory over Real Betis, deputising for Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez.
There was hope that he would be about to get his opportunity at first team level when Maresca recalled Bergstrom before this campaign, however this did not result in a first team debut.
Chelsea have a number of top young goalkeepers on their books, with there being plenty of excitement over Mike Penders ahead of his likely debut at the Club World Cup.
