Chelsea could get the opportunity to sign another Barcelona player after bringing Marc Guiu to Stamford Bridge last year.
Chelsea landed Guiu in a £5m deal and the young striker had a promising debut campaign in west London.
He scored six goals in seven Conference League games, helping Enzo Maresca‘s side to win the European trophy.
After selling Liam Delap to Chelsea, Ipswich Town are interested in signing Guiu. While the 19-year-old could be departing Stamford Bridge this summer, though, another Barcelona product could be set to arrive.
Fermin Lopez could be allowed to leave Barcelona
Fermin Lopez was a very important player for Hansi Flick last season, making over 45 appearances in all competitions.
However, the midfielder is being linked with a move to Chelsea and could be allowed to join the Blues or another club.
According to Sport, while Barcelona currently have no intention of selling Lopez, they would be willing to sanction a transfer if the player were to ask for one.
Lopez can play as both a central midfielder and attacking midfielder. Chelsea have a lot of options for the engine room presently, including Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
John Obi Mikel recently spoke about Caicedo, with the Chelsea legend claiming that he would get into Maresca’s team over the Ecuadorian and the Blues’ other midfielders.
Ultimately, there does not actually look to be room for Lopez at the Premier League giants right now.
Chelsea’s proposal to sign Fermin Lopez
While they do not appear to be in desperate need of a new midfielder, it has still been claimed that Chelsea have offered Christopher Nkunku to Barcelona in a proposal to sign Lopez.
Former Barcelona manager Xavi has described Lopez as a player with “great talent” via Barcelona’s official website and again, he can play further forward as well. So it is not hard to see why a rising star like Lopez would be on Chelsea’s radar.
