Despite already announcing the signing of Liam Delap, Chelsea look as if they are not done in their efforts to bolster their attack for next season.

Delap rejected other Premier League sides in order to have the opportunity to take part in the Champions League next season, however could find his place in the starting side under immediate threat.

Nicolas Jackson remains at the club after two seasons as the main man, but the thinking was nearly unanimous in that the Blues needed a different option to return to the top of the table.

Chelsea have been strongly linked with Hugo Ekitike, however are at this point not close to a deal due to the high transfer fee Eintracht Frankfurt are demanding.

Chelsea tipped to return to Samu Aghehowa

This could see the Blues return to potential deals they have already looked at, with one of those last summer being Samu Aghehowa.

Chelsea fans were against signing Samu in the past, however Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that he wouldn’t rule the Blues out of signing Samu this summer.

He said: “Samu, we already know Chelsea have bid for him. He’s a player they like an awful lot. And when clubs have bid for players, like Osimhen and Samu, they weren’t just doing it off the cuff.

“We know Chelsea and especially this recruitment department they’ve got in place now, they do nothing by chance so we already know it’s not putting together a mass Da Vinci code type theorem here. We know who they like, they bid for Samu they bid for Osimhen [last summer], we know what types of players they want. So don’t rule out one of those names that they’ve already bid for, and Samu I wouldn’t rule out at all. We know Porto not in a great situation really financially.”

Despite financial issues for the Portuguese side, the youngster’s impressive campaign will still demand a high fee. It has previously been reported that it could cost up to £41m (CaughtOffside).

Victor Osimhen move now unlikely

Chelsea have held an admiration for Victor Osimhen for a number of years now. The Blues were pushing to sign him on deadline day last summer.

However, his wage demands were an issue, something that has remained a sticking point ahead of this transfer window too.

John Obi Mikel declared Osimhen to Chelsea unlikely, after being an advocate for the deal over the past few seasons.

It remains to be seen if Chelsea bring another striker in this summer, however it is now not going to be Osimhen, meaning he could well be an opponent should he get a move to another Premier League club.
